TAG TUESDAY - PURPLE

Purple is my favourite colour, so there was no shortage of ideas for this week’s tags. In the end my main tag was made mostly from bits and pieces found on my table, although I dyed a few white flowers with silk paint. I used paper flowers, ribbon roses, textile daisies, a silk carrier rod, purple tape measure, embroidery thread bobbins, a button, and a butterfly.  They were all mounted onto a tag of lilac silk  backed onto felt.

This set of tags started as the result of experimenting with water misting to make mono prints .  I also made tags using some other watercolour effects that were in my sketchbook, including bubble printing, sponging, using  masking fluid and  cling film.  They are all tied together with ribbon so I can add more samples to them to make a little book of watercolour techniques.
SPONGING

USING CLING FILM  - place crinkled cling film on watercolour and leave to dry

WATER MISTING - paint onto a rubber stamp, spray with water before printing onto paper

TAG TUESDAY - SPRING FLOWERS

I love Spring flowers, tulips are my favourites at anytime of year.
My tag this week is made from an old birthday card featuring tulips. At the bottom of the tag I have written the words:
it’s Spring again, let’s sing again, Tulips from Amsterdam... (You can almost hear Max Byegraves singing along!)

I wanted to write directly onto the card, but nothing I had to hand would write on the glossy card. In the end I used gold ink on paper and stuck it on. I used pink and green threads for a tie. The tag is photographed against a painting ofwisteria blossom; another Spring favourite of mine.

Have a wonderful creative week,
Love Jane xx

TAG TUESDAY - SPRING CLEANING?

I have a confession to make, I haven’t done any housework for nearly fifteen years!  In 1997 I had a brain haemorrhage and have been a wheelchair user ever since.  I would like to dedicate my tags this week to all the carers I have had in that time who have done my housework and Spring cleaning for me! And so much more! It is thanks to their support that I am able to take part in Tag Tuesday. I feel really blessed in being able to be creative. I do not feel disabled at all.
For my first tag my ‘inner child’ took over!  I made some bubble prints on watercolour paper by blowing through a straw into a jar of purple watercolour and washing-up liquid solution.  The teddy on the washing line image was on the back of a birthday card. There are a few daisies here and there but I didn’t want to cover the delicate bubble print paper too much.  Above the teddy picture, I have written a simple THANK YOU x
The second tag is a vintage image from an old card.  The caption reads ’Gladys wasn’t going to ruin her kitten heels for anyone!’ she covers her shoes whilst mopping the floor.  I mounted this onto some card with a 50’s style design, and a co-ordinating tie to finish.
Here are both tags together backed by a lino print of a spider’s web.

Have a great week, love Jane xx

EASTER

Easter

This is a simple tag for Easter morning to mark our reason for celebrating Easter.
I have used warm colours to paint a dramatic sunrise.  At the top I have written the words “He has risen” using gold ink. There is a tassel made of gold threads. There are no embellishments so I can use this tag for a bookmark.

HAPPY EASTER to everyone
Jane xx
