TAG TUESDAY- FUNFAIR

My FUNFAIR tags were inspired by a photo of a Carousel Horse in this week’s Sunday Telegraph Magazine. Its Union Jack colours made me think of Great British Fun Fairs and The Dorset Steam Fair.  Using a red card tag as a base with sparkly gems for lights and gold ric-rac the whole length of the tag and over the end for a tie; this reminded me of the golden barley-twist poles on the Carousel.  I made two similar tags using the same materials.
On this tag I have used sticky sparkly gems to echo the lights on the carousel; The picture behind is of the Dorset Steam Fair.

  bye for now,

TAG TUESDAY - TABLE GAMES

Hope you have all had fun this week!   For my TABLE GAMES tag, I have chosen MONOPOLY (The Disney Edition).  It is basically the same as the standard game but has a fabulous pop-up Magic Castle Board,  a Golden Tinkerbelle and charming Disney tokens.  Community Chest and Chance cards are replaced with Magic Moments and Show Time cards. There are castles instead of hotels and cottages instead of houses.  I just love it!
Using this game was really just an excuse to keep with my pink theme, play with pretty embellishments and add some bling.
For the base of the tag I have used the rules booklet.  I have attached one of each colour of money, with a pink 500 on top;  copies of the pink block (they are films rather than streets); I have also added a Magic Moments card, some dice, a castle and 2 cottages.  There is also a Show Time card, but it got covered up with other stuff! The tag is trimmed with silver ric-rac and a sprinkling of sparkly gems for fairy dust (it is the magic Kingdom, after all!).  It is finished with coordinating ribbons and threads with my favourite token in the game, Dumbo.
Here are my tags for the last few weeks  in the August  Pages of my tag book.

Take  care till next week, bye for now,

TAG TUESDAY - THEATRE and CINEMA

Hello everyone, hope you’ve all had a good week.  For this week’s theme  I tried to think of a film or play that might connect the other themes for this month.   GREASE kept coming to mind because of its Drive-in theatre and Fairground Scene finale; I’m also in a bit of a pink mood, so this really ‘Fit the Bill’.   I looked on-line for images and was surprised to see that GREASE The Musical was coming to Bournemouth for one week only.  So in the name of Research for Tag Tuesday, last night I was off to the THEATRE for Opening Night (any excuse!!).  It was a fantastic show.  The 'Summer Nights' idea is just perfect for these August Themes.
For my main tag, I used a flyer for the show.  On one side I have covered over most of the writing with my ticket, a strip of advertising material with 'MUSICAL' on it, all embellished with some black and white musical notes confetti.
I then made 4 smaller tags –
One with the ‘T’ BIRDS logo, one with the Pink Ladies logo, another has the GREASE car logo.  My favourite small tag has the theatrical comedy / tragedy masks with pink ribbons. I added a musical clef and notes.  They are attached together with pink and black ribbons.

Bye for now and have a great, creative week.

TAG TUESDAY - CASINO, AMUSEMENTSand BINGO

My favourite machine at the amusements has always been the ‘2P falls’ slider machine, where you put in a whole load of 2Ps in the hope that the big stack of 2Ps all teetering on the edge at the front will be nudged forward and come tumbling down filling the tray at the front with your winnings, before they are all put in again.  With a bit of luck one of those little prizes, maybe a key ring or sweeties will fall too!  In the name of research for Tag Tuesday I set off for HAPPYLAND on Bournemouth  Promenade, with my 2 daughters and a few bags of 2Ps.  Needless to say we came home a little lighter in the pocket, but happy.
My girls (aged 20 and 23!) won some bubble blowers, and they filled Bournemouth Beach and Gardens with bubbles all afternoon.  What JOY!
My tag this week is based on a 2P falls machine.  I am aiming at a pink theme for the next few tags, so found a pink Disney castle for the back of the machine. The base tag is watercolour paper painted pink.   I photocopied and cut out lots of 2P coins and stuck them onto a piece of mirror card.  They are overlapped and stacked up, some with foam pads.  I stuck a little pink Minnie Mouse, some sweeties, and letters spelling 'WIN' on top of the paper coins.  At the top of the machine is a photo of a real coin slot, with a 2P in it.

When the tag is folded closed, on one side  are some other images of signs at the amusements; a   change machine sign and contact details for a Gambling Helpline, just in case research for this week’s tag has got out of control!!
On the other side I have put a photo of bubbles in the Gardens as a reminder of our day.
The tag is finished off with sparkly gems and ribbon.

bye for now, and have a great week!

TAG TUESDAY - MERMAIDS

My tag this week takes you on a journey to another dimension.  Dive into an ocean of dreams and swim through the portal that will take you to the world  where  mermaids roam free.   Sometimes we get glimpses of other worlds, times and places and in the same way this tag gives a glimpse of another world.  To start with you cannot  see much more than the shimmer of water.   As you turn over organza overlays, more and more of the mermaid’s world becomes reality. Alternate layers of blue and green organza shimmer and glisten as each overlay gives way to reveal more of the world of mermaids.

Turn the tag over and another mermaid comes into view. The mermaids remain incomplete, keeping the secret of their existence far below the waves.

The base tag is craft vylene, coloured with silk paints.  There are 4 layers of organza folded and stitched to the top of the tag. Some layers of organza are cut on the bias and some on the straight grain which is what makes the layers shimmer and move with changes in the light.  The mermaids are made using glitter glue, shells, and  sequins.  The tail on the second one came from an old Ariel Barbie; she had no head or arms either!
The background has bubbles made from sequins and glass.
The tag is finished with coordinating ribbons and threads.
The tag is photographed against one of  the July pages of my Tag Book (volume 2)
Here are all my July pages, I hope you like them.
One last thing!
Just had to share this with you - I'm defrosting my freezer today  and this piece of ice is the last to disappear.  Could it be an Ice Mermaid?
Sorry this was such a long post I had trouble deciding what pics to include, they were all so pretty.  I have loved the themes this month.  I think I'm a bit of a water baby myself!  Can't wait to see all your mermaids, see you all later.  love Jane xx
